In Duisburg, Germany, wasl be held again, for the 8th time since 1996, the largest Discus Championship known and Heiko Bleher, who helped to build it up from the very begin, was be present again giving four lecture – each day one, more than anyone else – like during every Championship. But also the living Discus-breeding-legend, Jack Wattley answered questions to all enthusiasts and Discus lovers …
During the 4 days of this years International Discus Championships in Duisburg, Germany several speakers gave their best about Discus fishes. Heiko started off with his new discoveries from December 2009, showing a Green Discus Population for the first time – from an area no one had ever researched about fishes before. There were talks about Discus breeding and also the president of the German Discus Club, Klaus Schmitz gave a nice talk. On the second day Horst Köhler, editor of the famous German Diskus-Brief, a quarterly magazine published in its 30th year, talked about how to prevent diseases. Heiko Bleher presented for the first time the correct classification of the family Potamotrygonidae – the South American Freshwater Stingrays – in conjunction how to keep the with Discus and which species. Patriz Hilsenbeck from Germany talked on the 3rd day on how to maintain Discus the best way and how to avoid problems, and Jack Wattley from the USA answered vividly questions of the many who came to see the living legend, among other talks.
