Pushpangadhan was one of the first to collect and promote “Kerala Princess” Puntius denisonii, Kerala’s most famous ornamental aquarium fish in the 1990’s after Heiko Bleher had suggested it to an Indian exporter (although the species was described in 1865 by Day, but no one had ever collected it for ornamental purpose before).
Push (his abbreviated name) is in the wholesale and export business and was one of the first to receive financial assistance from MPEDA for his new farm which he completed a few month ago. MPEDA gives maximum of financial assistance in what is called Rainbow revolution of India: for small-scale operation Rs. 75.000; for a medium-scale individual Rs. 2 Lakh; and for large-scale individual Rs. 7.5 Lakh and Push’s installation is the latter one. The people who contributed to the Green Certification of Ornamental fish workshop visited his farm and two others on October 16, 2008. Below some photos and information of the following three farms:
1. Mr. Pushpangadhan
2. Mrs. and Mr. Suni
3. Mr. Santhash Baby
