Amanda Flora Bleher is born today, on July 15th, 2010 at 10:45 Italian time.
Finally the 4th generation for the continuity of the Kiel-Bleher-Family tradition has seen the light of this world, healthy, happy and smiling with 2950 grams of weight.
Amanda Flora will surely continue to explore the last corners of this planet, as her father Heiko Bleher, her mother Natasha, her grandmother Amanda Flora Hilda Bleher (nee Kiel) and her grand-grandfather, Adolf Kiel, has done, to catalogue the last aquatic life forms in freshwaters of this planet before it is definitely to late. Today they are disappearing at a speed never seen before in history. She will certainly also continue to help the most beautiful and most educational hobby in the world – a family tradition for nearly 120 years – and help the scientific community to improve further our knowledge of the aquatic biodiversity worldwide. And help, as her ancestors did to guarantee that future generations will know what once lived on earth.

 I just returned today, June 10th, 2010, from the funeral of Fang Fang Kullander, the wife of Sven O. Kullander, an amazing ichthyologist whom I have had the honour to become friends with. We had been together on several Ichthyological Congresses around the world, the last time in Perth, Australia, at the 8th Indo-Pacific Fish Congress , hardly a year ago when she felt fine and looked great... USA – New York, 20 March 2010
 Heiko Bleher was invited and nominated as a new Fellow of the Explorers Club to their annual Dinner at the Waldorf Astoria in New York on March 20th, 2010. It was an immense honour for Heiko and the President Emeritus Alfred S. McLaren of The Explorers Club, retired U.S. Navy Captain, recipient of the Distinguished Service Medal and two Legions of Merit, said at the board meeting that no one at The Explorers Club, since its foundation in 1904, has done nearly as many expeditions as Heiko Bleher...

La une d’“Em Tempo”, à Manaus, portait la mention “Biopirateria“, alors qu’aucun des 3 chefs d’accusation de la PF ne concerne la biopiraterie et ce n’est pas un scoop que de dire que j’ai voyagé au Brésil plus de 400 fois, ce qu’on sait très bien partout et surtout au Brésil, mais cela éveille la curiosité. Et l’attention principale de la photo de la une n’est pas dirigée sur les quelques poissons morts, mais c’est l’insigne de la PF qui frappe le plus. Il est important de montrer les “bons gars“ (puisqu’il n’y avait pratiquement rien d’autre à montrer, voir page suivante)…
