On two expeditions in 2007 and 2008 Heiko Bleher was able to discover for the first time in history by white man what he believes is the largest natural freshwater aquarium in the world. It is a crystal clear, over 60 km long river covered almost in its entire length with underwater plants...

Colombia, 10 Dicembre 2009

Questa stupefacente insenatura, so trova in una zona remota e incontaminata dell’Amazzonia colombiana nella regione del Apaporis, mai stato visitato da uomo bianco prima e con un accesso molto difficile (solo a piedi) Heiko Bleher l’ha scoperto recentemente anche grazie all’aiuto di un Macuna indiano. Ecco alcune foto di questo habitat e un video subacqueo fatto da Natasha Khardina.

Camminando con Natasha e Alirio, Heiko ha scoperto un piccolo torrente incontaminato e ha deciso di esplorarlo, in questo piccolo habitat, dalle dimensioni di un acquario “Nano“, ha trovato molti piccoli pesci che vivono  tutti insieme. Nella zona il Tonnina Caño si allarga in una buca profonda 60 cm e qui Natasha è stata in grado di filmare i ciclidi che vi abitano, tra cui anche un labbro rosso (Heros sp.) probabilmente una nuova specie. Colombia – Inirida, 2 Dicembre 2009

  Heiko Bleher ha esplorato per la prima volta, con il pescatore nativo Pedro da Inirida e il signor Ernesto, una piccola insenatura molto remota chiamata Caño Sardina, è affuente destro del Caño Bocon superiore, che è un affluente del Rio Inirida in Colombia. In questa piccola insenatura Caño è stato molto difficile entrare con una piccola canoa, ma aveva un'incredibile varietà di pesci tra cui alcune nuove specie. Qui si possono vedere e sentire alcune delle circa 50 specie diverse che ha trovato e un bel video da Natasha di questo habitat subacqueo e dei suoi pesci tra cui il Tetra Cardinale.

End of November, during one of Heiko Bleher's 2009 Amazon expeditions, he also researched along the Atabapo and it tributaries. He returned after many years as he has done almost yearly expeditions across Venezuela from end of the 1960s into the late 1980s. (End of the 1960s bringing back for the first time into the aquarium Hobby the most majestic of all aquarium fishes, the real Pterophyllum altum Pellegrin, 1904.) Philippines – Gonzaga, 16 November 2009

The regional Director for the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Mrs. Jovita P. Ayson had suggested to Heiko Bleher to do research in the unspoiled and untouched Wangag River in Gonzaga, Peña Blanca. And with the kind help of Gonzaga’s Municipal Mayor Heiko was able to do an inventory of this pristine river

Iran – Strait of Hormoz region, September 2009

Heiko’s most recent field trip was to collect the monotypic and most eastern found Cichlidae in south-western Iran restricted to a few locations around the Strait of Hormoz. The area is drying up and this unique species is threatened by extinction as it is only found there…
