Poland – Krakow, 6-8 June 2008
On June 6-8 the 2nd Zoo Festival took place in Krakow, Poland, in conjunction with the 2nd Polish Discus Championship. Aquapress Publishers and Heiko Bleher had been invited to participate at this extreme well organized event in Poland’s most beautiful city, definitely worthwhile visiting
Not only the famous St. Mary Church with Paul II immortalized on its outside wall is unique, but also Krakow’s newsstands are very special with the salesperson inside hidden – really unusual (top left)
Beautiful carriages take tourists around the old city, very nostalgic and authentic
On the Zoo Festival were presented nicely decorated discus aquariums, also several great angelfish displays
Stingrays were shown according to their natural habitat and also some very nice paludariums…
…also in this Kaaba, as Heiko called it when he first did set up such a stand hidden away under black decoration materials at the Interzoo 1988 exhibition, were many beautiful biotope aquariums.
See some of those here below:
New Guinea crustaceans; mudskippers; piranhas; cardinal tetra biotope; Hemigrammus bleheri habitat; gold tetra biotope, are just a few of those shown
There were also some nice aquascape displays to be seen in the Kaaba – in particular one authentic Apistogramma-biotope with all the leafs, as in nature
Colourful discus could not be missed and also not the 5.4 m long python
There were many stands at the Zoo Festival, the Malawi-stand specially was very well made
And the Zoo Festival ended very successfully with thousand of visitors. Here (from left) Tadeusz Ogrodnik, who had invited Heiko, Natasha, Mrs. Ogrodnik and Heiko
