Conferences at the Mexico Pet Expo 2012

Manuel Morales Zamudio was the man behind the coordination and invitation of Heiko Bleher and coordinated with him also the topics of Heiko’s 5 conferences during the launch of Mexico Pet Expo in Guadalajara – the first pet industry trade-show in Mexico. This one of a kind show & conference is organized by the NürnbergMesse North America with the Pet Business Association of Mexico. They estimate to draw over 150 exhibitors on 3,000 net square meters and 5,000 international trade visitors to the Expo Guadalajara.See also their site and on facebook. How to keep discus in a petshop, how to feed and maintain them correct and successfully (in most petshops done wrong – globally):

how-to-keep-discus_mexico2012_en.jpgHeiko Bleher will demonstrate what is being done wrong in most pet shops around the world with discus (and some other freshwater) fishes. Unfortunately this happens constantly do to missing information and many customers who buy discus in pet shops loose their high priced fishes. Consequently the shop looses the customer and the people become des-interested in this beautiful and educational hobby as well … Recently Bleher gave such a conference for representatives of 371 pet shops in Australia and since their business have improved tremendously. He will demonstrate how easy it is to maintain those fishes and sell only top quality if very simple rules are followed.

Aquarium plants and fishes – what is best? Suggestions for authentic biotope aquariums:

aquarium-plants-and-fishes_mexico2012_en.jpgIn this presentation Heiko Bleher will show some examples of what is the best way to keep fishes, with what kind of decor material and which groups to keep together. He will suggest how to do the authentic – as close as possible to nature – biotope setups, which are taking over worldwide in the hobby today and which will be the future without any doubt. Bleher will also show some films of his so called “Bleher’s Nature Biotopes” and demonstrate that with the correct decoration and mates fishes will feel immediately at “home” and start to spawn within hours …

Heiko Bleher’s main discoveries since 1954:

In this presentation Bleher goes back to his childhood, when he lived under Indians and made his first discoveries In the Rio Guaporé/Río Iténez (border Brazil-Bolivia). He follows with his discoveries in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and goes after the turn of the Century into his latest discoveries in December 2011. He tries to highlight some of his over 5000 fresh- and brackish water fish species introduced in the hobby and to science, including the most popular aquarium fish of each decade, species which today are found in most of the aquariums around the globe, also in Mexico.

The evolution of the aquarium hobby – the last 50,000 years:

How it all developed and what came of it. And in particular what happened in during the last 150 years and how this beautiful hobby has picked up fast worldwide with the people responsible for its booming development.

The history of Discus around of the world:

Heiko Bleher will also demonstrate why and how discus became the “King of the Aquarium Fishes” around the world and give a short idea of what has been bred in the past and at present, talk about some of the championships and the tendency of the future of discus in nature and in aquaria.
