Blehers Authentische Biotope Aqua-Fisch 2006 – Aquapress

At the ‘Aqua-Fisch’ – yearly exhibition and conference in Friedrichshafen, southern Germany – Heiko Bleher displayed again his authentic ‘Natural Habitats’ that showed the way freshwater fishes live in the wild. This was already the 9th time since 2001 that his exhibits had been seen at an international aquarium fair. Again about 26,000 visitors were thrilled with these aquarium presentations, confirming that it was THE highlight of the exhibition.

Heiko Bleher’s ‘Natural Habitats’ were sponsored this time by Tetra Werke GmbH and Zoo Zajac GmbH provided the exhibition space and assisted with setting up and taking down this gigantic, approximately 10,000 litres-containing exhibit ( with a weight of almost 20 tonnes of materials).

The natural habitats, described in detail below, show – like nowhere on earth – authentic habitats of fishes from all continents. Bleher decorates each aquarium in exactly the same way as it occurs in nature; each habitat with exactly those fishes and water plants (if indeed plants occur in such habitat), the appropriate sand, gravel, rocks and/or tree roots. The fish selections, together with the respective numbers, are exactly calculated to the volume of the tank, and so conveys the natural density in such a habitat in nature. With comprehensive explanatory information provided – better then in any public aquarium in the world – the visitors were able to inquire in great details about particular geographical regions (locality, river, country). Beyond that, at each aquarium visitors could read about what was swimming in the tank and how the display had been compiled, as well as what materials have contributed to the authentic decoration and who has supplied them.
